.sara sent me this op-ed piece entitled “How To Take Back America”. It’s basically a short history lesson followed by real time application of Ice T’s “Infiltrate the system and take it over.”

Waldo’s already done it partially in Charlottesville. Time to move it elsewhere and keep it going.

Rock. Das. Vote.

(and run for office while you’re at it)

  1. Waldo says:

    Seriously.

People just don't seem to get it. Most of my peers grouse about the federal and state governments, without ever understanding that the governments are just an amalgam of their components. If you want to change things, you have to start by doing what is within your control. John Ashcroft is not within my control. City Hall? Well, there I can make some dents. And so can you. How will changing City Hall change the federal government? Time and hard work.

Think the Democrats are too centrist? Then join the party. Now it's a little more left that it used to be. Get a few friends to come. Now it's even more left. Get appointed to the party's committee for your district. Now it's even more left. Get your friends appointed. Now it's really left. Run for the party presidency. Get active in your state party.

You can write all of the letters to your Congressman that you want, but it's not going to do a damned bit of good. Instead, you've got to get off of your ass and do something. Because what you're doing now obviously isn't working.

  2. Ahmed says:

Enjoy your summer off. I took a break last year, and I'm glad I did. Now I'm gentitg involved again at the EDA level as a volunteer and municipally as well. Once you're in you can never escape!
